Wellington Business Safari

20 oCTOBER 2020

Our Wellington safari included a behind the scenes tour of NZ Media & Entertainment (NZME), Te Wharewaka o Pōneke and Ricoh. These very different businesses each had a surprise in store for our safari guests.

First up on our tour was NZME, home to iconic brands NZ Herald, Newstalk ZB, The Hits, ZM, GrabOne and many more.

We had a fantastic personal tour of NZME including the offices and radio booths. Four people had a go at doing their own recording.

Our next stop took us behind the scenes at Te Wharewaka o Pōneke.

This was a rare opportunity to see inside one of our national cultural treasures. Their market is usually overseas tourists but due to Covid-19 they told us how they have adapted their business to cater to the domestic market. They shared a tasty afternoon tea with us from their Kiwi inspired cafe and showed us around their functions centre, based right on the lagoon front in Wellington’s CBD.

Our last stop on the Wellington Business Safari was Ricoh, who had a great surprise in store for us.

Ricoh shared the latest technology with us from around the world and put on food and drinks. There was a lot of fun to be had trying out the latest virtual reality goggles. Guests walked a plank 20 stories high, went on a rollercoaster and went free-falling off a cliff – if they were game enough.

We have some outstanding businesses across our region. These business safaris provide such a fabulous opportunity to meet the people driving new local developments and celebrate our vibrant business community, in a fun and relaxed manner.
